When I entered high school, I was told by my math teacher that the way you can truly know if you have mastered something is to teach it to someone else. That statement has allowed me to be a help to numerous classmates over the years and led me to work towards a degree in education. I have tutored as a student teacher in high school among other endeavors. I am currently in a reading program along with observing students in classrooms in a local school, so I know the feelings of frustration and disappointment that sometimes come along with learning new materials, but I want learning to be a positive experience rather than a negative one. Background Information: I graduated with an Academic Honors Diploma from Silver Creek High School in 2007. Since graduating, I have been pursuing a degree in Elementary Education at Indiana University Southeast. During the last two years at my university, I have taken classes in Math for Elementary School Teacher I, II & III, Biology with a Lab, Chemistry, College Writing, Introduction to Teaching, Special Education, Fine Arts, Speech, History, Music for the Listener, Political Science, Computers in Education, Economics, and Child Psychology. I have vast amount of background knowledge to work with when tutoring individuals, and my education classes have helped me determine the educational needs of students and apply resources that are beneficial to them to enable them to succeed. I find the feeling of accomplishment I get when a student finally "gets it" after they work hard to understand something is both exciting and addictive. I work at a moderate pace and I am able to relate information in different ways as it fits the student. I have mainly worked with younger kids, but working with students with more experience in school is refreshing and I enjoy the challenge of high school work!

Hobbies
I am an energetic member of a large family who I love to spend as much time with as possible. I love to go to the movies, go bowling, or just sit at coffee shop with friends.
